Sunday evening - getting ready for another week of work and looking after my Mom. She is at the Civic Geriatric Assessment Centre now - no longer able to live at Unitarian House because she requires more care than they can provide. Mom seems comfortable with having a quiet room, meals brought to her bedside (although she never enjoys them), watching TV and looking over the paper. We are hoping to hear the results of the assessment this week - this will inform our next steps in getting Mom into long-term care.

Back into the Shop
I have been lazy in the last year - no new stained glass projects. I have to get back into the shop - two major repair jobs to handle first. One for a piece I did last year for a fund raiser - the winning bidder hung it up and it fell down and smashed. It will take a full day just to repair. The other is an old piece of my Mother's - will take less time to repair and will mean more. Next, I have to finish the second window panel for the basement. Then, I can stretch my creative energies on a few pieces for me - I have a few special bevel edged kits that need to find a new home. I am thinking about doing a series of panels representing the four seasons. Now all I have to do - is get to it!

Food Safety is on everyone's plate
Hi,
Even though I work at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency - I know that everyone has a role in keeping our food safe. If you want to reduce the risk of foodborne illness - learn about the key safe food handling practices and sign up for food recalls. Everyone should register to receive food recalls and allergy alerts directly from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency via email. Go to inspection.gc.ca to sign up today.

Work on the ACM begins
Well, I have started my work as Publicity Coordinator for the Canadian Unitarian Council 2008 Annual Conference and Meeting (ACM) which will be held in Ottawa on the May 2008 long weekend. I need to find another Journalism or English major to help me interview key ACM contacts and local UUs and draft a series of articles and short blurbs to send to all UU's across Canada. Would be nice to have someone with some knowledge of the Congregation in Ottawa..... any ideas?

Solar power!
Oryst and Paul installed a solar power water heating system for the pool this weekend. This is our contribution in the fight against global warming! Our backyard is high tech - with grape vines and nasturstums galore. Heid is one luckey dog!
